All who are baptised, whatever their age, and from any Christian denomination, are welcome to receive Communion at Onslow Anglicans. Once children are baptised they are full members of the church. We do not divide the members of the body of Christ into those who can and can't take Communion on the grounds of age. If we baptise infants then we must welcome them to Communion. The separation of baptism and admission to Communion was a medieval development in the Western Church alone. In the Eastern Orthodox Church baptised children have always been welcomed as communicants. This recognition of children as full members of the church means parents and the local congregation have the responsibility to provide children with appropriate teaching. We hold classes from time to time based on the programme Going to the Supper of the Lord. This series explores the meaning of Communion for children. We also offer a monthly Children's Eucharist. The service of Confirmation is also available for those who wish to make an adult commitment to the Christian faith. Confirmation is generally appropriate for those 16 and over. Further InformationIf you would like to know more about involving your child in the life of our parish, please talk to the clergy or the Parish Family Worker.
